Homemade turkey meatballs in the delicious marinara sauce is a very juicy, gentle and quite simple main dish. It will not leave anyone indifferent. This is a dietary recipe because I use lean ground turkey and skip browning the meatballs on the skillet, just cook them in the sauce.
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs lean ground turkey
- 1 small or 1/2 medium yellow onion
- 1/4 cups breadcrumbs
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 can (32oz) marinara sauce
- few flakes of red chili pepper
Cooking Directions:
- In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, finely minced onion, bread crumbs, salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Mix well with your hands and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
- Pour 2 Tbsp of olive oil into a wide cold saucepan. With wet hands, shape the meatballs into the size of golf balls and then put them to the pan in one layer.
- Evenly pour the tomato marinara sauce on the top of the meatballs. Cover the pan with a lid. Cook on a medium-low heat for 40 minutes. At the end add few flakes of red chili pepper and salt to the taste, if needed. Stir with a wooden spoon and let it cook for another 5 minutes.
Serve hot with fresh pasta. Enjoy!
