Tomato Slices with Garlic and Cheese

Tomato slices with garlic and cheese is one of the favorite appetizers in our family. It’s definitely always the first appetizer to make for a holiday table, but it’s also good to make just for regular lunch or dinner if I want something tasty, light, and refreshing. Ripe, juicy tomatoes, a dollop of mayonnaise with aromatic garlic and fluffy shredded cheese on the top – appetizing, delicious, simple, and impressive dish. You will need only a few ingredients and minutes to make it. It’s better to prepare the dish right before serving.

For this dish is better to choose a medium size, meaty, ripe, but firm tomatoes – something like heirloom or beefsteak tomatoes.

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1-2 garlic cloves
  • 1 cup finely shredded Monterey Jack, or mozzarella, or some similar cheese

Cooking Directions:

  1. Wash tomatoes and pat them dry with paper towel. Slice them horizontally into 1/4 – 1/2 inch thick slices. Assemble them in one layer on a flat dish.
  2. Peel garlic cloves and squeeze them into a small dish with mayonnaise. Mix together.
  3. Place about a teaspoon of the garlic-mayonnaise sauce on the top of each tomato slice. Generously cover with shredded cheese over the top.

Done! It’s ready to serve. Hurry up to the table before the last slice is gone 🙂 Enjoy!
